Read more We would like to introduce you to Grandma Be, also known as Beatrice Brown, a beloved mother, grandmother, and pillar of her community. Friends and Allies is working closely with Grandma Be’s family to ensure she receives the care, protection, and support she urgently needs. All donations are tax deductible. Grandma Be is over 80 years old and recently suffered a heartbreaking loss with the passing of her youngest daughter, who was her primary caregiver. Following her daughter’s death, individuals responsible for her care severely neglected her wellbeing and finances. More than $20,000 in credit card debt was accumulated in her name, her bank accounts were emptied, and her mortgage went unpaid for over 13 months. Even her monthly food assistance was taken, leaving her with less than $100 a month to live on. Despite these devastating circumstances, Grandma Be has shown remarkable strength and resilience. With the help of Friends and Allies and her eldest grandchild, she has been safely relocated to North Carolina. While she has lost her home, savings, and much of her health due to prolonged neglect, she remains a fighter. Now, she needs us. Grandma Be’s eldest grandchildren are currently covering her living and care expenses while critical transitions are underway. She requires near 24-hour care to remain safe and healthy. Her family is actively working to transfer her healthcare coverage, forfeit her former home, and cooperate with an active Chicago Police Department investigation involving fraud and elder negligence. Every donation big or small will go directly toward ensuring Grandma Be receives the care, stability, and dignity she deserves.
